Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is defined as the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person's health and well-being.  The benefits of massage during pregnancy include:

  • Increased relaxation and overall well-being

  • Decreased swelling

  • Decreased anxiety and depression

  • Improved lymph and blood circulation

  • Decreased muscle and joint pain

  • Decreased sciatic nerve pain

  • Improved sleep

  • Decreased low back and hip pain

  • Decreased headaches

Massage therapy is healthy and safe at any stage of pregnancy.  Different positioning is used depending on the client's trimester and comfort.  Our registered massage therapist and doula, Katherine, specializes in pregnancy and postnatal massage therapy.
